The Green House Home Welcomes its First Residents

Today marks a meaningful milestone at Taylor Glen: our new Green House home is officially alive with community. After months of preparation, residents from the former memory care unit moved into their new home today and will spend their very first night settling into the warm, person‑centered environment that the Green House model is known for.

The transition has been smooth and filled with anticipation as residents, team members, and families begin this next chapter together.

The opening of the Green House home represents a transformation in how memory care is offered in North Carolina. In fact, Taylor Glen is proud to host the first Green House home in the state dedicated specifically to dementia and cognitive care.

Unlike traditional memory care settings, the Green House model is designed around a small‑home approach that emphasizes autonomy, dignity, and deep relationships. Each resident enjoys a private bedroom, inviting shared living spaces, and consistent caregivers, known as Shahbazim, who are specially trained to provide person‑directed care in a home environment. This model has been shown to improve quality of life, reduce depression, and support residents’ independence longer.

Today’s move‑in was truly a community effort. Over the past several days, family members stopped by to help pack and transfer personal belongings, making sure each resident’s new space feels like home from the moment they walk in.

We also extend heartfelt gratitude to the team at A&G Superior Painting, who generously helped move items into the new home this week. Their support — along with the dedication of our facilities, nursing, housekeeping, and leadership teams — made this milestone possible.

The Green House team at Taylor Glen has worked tirelessly over many months to bring this vision to life. From training with the national Green House Project to preparing the home’s thoughtful design details, their commitment ensures residents will thrive in a setting built around respect, comfort, and meaningful connection.

The new Green House home will provide care for 12 Taylor Glen residents, each supported by a consistent caregiving team and welcomed into a setting thoughtfully crafted to feel familiar, warm, and empowering.

Today is just the beginning. Over the next few weeks, residents will fully settle in as routines take shape and the rhythms of home begin to form. We cannot wait to watch community life unfold in this beautiful, innovative space.
