Longest-living Resident Shares Her Secret

Our longest-living resident turned 102 recently! Help us wish Jeanne Harrell a happy birthday.

What's the secret a staying youthful? Jeanne said to live -- just live life fully! Enjoy the life that you have. And she certainly takes her own advice to heart, staying active while she's in independent living at Taylor Glen.

She moved here in part to relieve the burden on her children, but she's so happy she moved here. She said she never gave much thought to how she'd age before moving to Taylor Glen.

"I just never thought of getting old, where I'd be," she said. "It just never entered my mind. I was too busy living."

Jeanne never lets anything slow her down, learning new skills, like swimming, since she's been living at Taylor Glen and even still taking part in the gardening club.

But she's found a wonderful community at Taylor Glen. Her floor in independent living is made up of some fantastic people, she said. The surprised her recently with a party for her birthday, surrounding her with love and well wishes -- and a beautiful cake and cupcakes.
