To the residents of The Gardens of Taylor Glen, the spiritual life of the community is of the utmost importance. Spiritual activities here range all the way from the deeply serious to most light-hearted. There are in-depth Bible studies offered on a regular basis in which the individual books of the Bible are studied in both their original context and in their meaning for today. Evening worship services are held each Sunday at 6:30. These services are conducted by the chaplain and by resident ministers. A morning worship service is held on the first Sunday of each month at 9:30 for residents who choose to worship on campus. Music for the services is also provided by talented resident members. Regular visits by the chaplain are maintained to those residents confined in the local hospital. The chaplain is also available for counseling when needed. On the lighter side, episodes of the Andy Griffith Show are shown each week with appropriate scripture verses and spiritual lessons gained from these excellent stories.
Special days and holidays are observed with appropriate services. A concerted effort is made to provide for a wide range of spiritual needs in order that each resident will find something which will appeal to him or her; the chaplain attempts to offer spiritual nurture to all faiths. Perhaps the most important factor in the spiritual life of the community is the strong feeling of family by which residents express care and concern for their fellow residents and reach out loving hands to those who have needs. The spiritual life emphasis at Taylor Glen is ever dynamic and never stagnant, always striving to meet the spiritual needs of the residents in more effective ways.
